One of the early shock-rock metal bands. W.A.S.P. were the top groups in the mid-eighties, carrying on the theatrical stage traditions founded by Alice Cooper and KISS. Despite the gruesome stage shows, their strongest attribute has always been their music, which combines the best elements of bands like RATT and Motley Crue with the heavier European styles of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.
